The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics is a tactical role-playing game developed by BonusXP and published by En Masse Entertainment. The game is set in the world of Jim Henson’s Dark Crystal, where the brave Gelflings fight for freedom against the cruel Skeksis. The game features gameplay mechanics typical to the genre – character customization, turn-based gameplay mechanics and more.  AoRT received positive reviews from the critics, who praised the game for a deft combination of classic RPG mechanics and  intriguing world created by Jim Henson.

Tactical RPG gameplay

Dark Crystal Tactics features many mechanics the veterans of the genre are familiar with. The player controls a party made of the characters of the cult classic 1982 movie and popular Netflix show. There are 14 playable characters in total, each of whom can be customized and equipped with different items, weapons, etc.

The game features a jobs system, which allows easy switching between the character classes. The player can also combine two jobs, creating unique mixes of abilities and unlocking new ones as they progress through the game.

The stages in which the player will have to face their opponents are another important aspect of the gameplay. Each stage is different and provides various perks, as well as disadvantages. Certain stages force the party to split and work together to open the path forward, others again will challenge them with puzzles to solve.

In the world of Thra, the peaceful Gelfling clans have always existed together in harmony. However, when the planet was overtaken by cruel Skeksis, the life of Gelflings had change irreversibly. Suffering under the cruel rule of their overlords, Gelflings decided to take a stand against the tyrants. The fate of the clans rests upon the success of this uprising, as the Age Of Resistance dawns upon the Thra.

The Dark Crystal Age of Resistance game received positve reviews from the critics. Reviewers praised the gameplay features, including the jobs system and stages actively influencing the result of battles. The combination og Jim Henson’s imagination and competent mechanics gave birth to a title that would pique the interest of the fans of classic RPGs.
