Starbound is an example of the Indie game created by a small studio and released on Steam. Moreover, it is also one of the best survival games ever created. Starbound equals unending Exploration

You are perhaps the most unfortunate person in the entire universe. You’ve fled your home, only to find yourself lost in space with a damaged ship. The damage was so severe that it forced you to land on an unknown planet. Your first task is to gain resources which are going to allow you to repair the ship. Then you can explore other planets.

Create your own story

Starbound is not only about survival gameplay, but it is also a game about creating your own story. There’s no wrong way to play, you can decide to stand against forces which destroyed your home planet or simply travel far away and colonize long forgotten planets. Settle down and farm the land, become an intergalactic landlord, explore the universe, discover various creatures. The universe of endless possibilities is waiting for you.

Change the game itself

The main aim of the authors was to create a moddable game. Starbound is relatively easy to change. Even people without experience in the IT are able to handle this. Create new races, biomes, dungeons etc. Anything that might fit your gameplay style.
