Civilization VII is the latest installment in a series of cult classic 4X games where you lead a civilization of your choice to glory. You can achieve victory in many ways, ranging from pacifistic ones to full-on military domination. While it sticks to the tried-and-true formula of the franchise, Civilization VII introduces new gameplay mechanics to keep things fresh.

Additionally, transitioning between eras involves choosing a new civilization and dealing with crisis events that impact your empire.

Yes. You can customize leaders using the Attribute system. Attribute points are earned through actions like building Wonders, researching Civics, completing narrative events, and achieving Victory Path milestones. These Attributes strengthen your leader.

Each age (Antiquity, Exploration, and Modern) features a different set of civilizations. Some major civilizations include America, the French Empire, Mexico, Russia, Qing China, Spain, Mongolia, Inca, Egypt, Greece, Persia, and Ancient Rome.

The age system has been streamlined into three main ages: Ancient, Exploration, and Modern. At the end of each age, players must select a new civilization to lead. The Ancient and Exploration ages end with crisis events that significantly impact the next era.

While the core gameplay remains true to the series, significant changes include the simplified age system, the ability to select any leader for your nation, new independent faction mechanics, and the introduction of crisis events.

Firaxis uses an in-house engine for Civilization VII rather than any well-known third-party engine.
