The leak has been confirmed, with extra surprises, to boot! The Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct stream brought some exciting news.

As it turned out, we’ve received a remaster of not just Warcraft 2, but the first game as well. And they’re both available to purchase now!

Released in 1994, Warcraft: Orcs & Humans was the first major success for Blizzard Entertainment, the then-rising star among video game development studios.

Set in a fantasy realm of Azeroth, the RTS pits a human kingdom against the relentless Orcish Horde. Warcraft 1 expanded the gameplay from Dune II (1992), one of the first real-time strategies.

But the true breakthrough came a year later, in 1995, with the release of Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness.

Further innovating the genre, Warcraft II was a major milestone in the RTS category and a major contender in the Blizzard vs. Westwood competition.

Warcraft II aged very well, so when you take a look at the remaster, there isn’t much difference visual-wise. Still, Warcraft II: Remastered boasts improved, HD graphics and a couple of quality-of-life interface improvements, such as health bars, the ability to select more units, mission selection screens, and so on.

The game also has the multiplayer component, of course, and old maps you used in the OG version are still compatible with the remaster.

Warcraft I: Remastered introduced the biggest changes since the original Warcraft 1 is a pain to play today, with extremely pixelated graphics (it’s not like there’s no charm in that, though!), outdated and clunky interface, and so on. So, the game looks better, plays modern, what’s not to love here?

You can either grab each of the games separately or as part of Warcraft Remastered Battle Chest, also containing an upgraded version of Warcraft III: Reforged.
