Don’t own those premium maps? Don’t worry, you can get wrecked with no XP by joining friends.

If you remember all those discounts and free weekends, it’s easy to guess that Battlefield 1 isn’t the most successful entry in the Battlefield IP. And now a new feature was added that gloriously summarizes the thinking of EA’s decision makers. Please, welcome Premium Friends!

Anyone who owns Battlefield 1’s Premium Pass can form a team of friends that didn’t pay for new maps and play with them. That sounds great, but there’s always a “but.” During the DLC matches only the season pass holder will earn XP. Others will receive those “retroactively if they decide to get the Battlefield 1 Premium Pass for themselves.”

That’s hilarious! Let’s quote two further restrictions:

  • Only owners of a Battlefield 1 Premium Pass or the specific expansion pack will be able to spawn in with weapons and vehicles unique for the expansion.
  • Only owners of a Battlefield 1 Premium Pass or the specific expansion pack will track progress towards the unique medals and codexes for the expansion.

Haha. Have a nice day!
