It’s been announced back in 2022 as the first in a new trilogy, but now it’s official. While The Witcher 4’s debut trailer is of a cinematic variety and doesn’t show any gameplay, it does reveal some interesting details.

First and foremost: we’re not going to be playing as Geralt anymore. Yes, now Ciri’s going to be the protagonist. Not as experienced, she’ll have to carve her own path. Things aren’t going to be easy for her, as people in general no longer seem to appreciate the work of monster hunters…

As far as other details are concerned, the game is said to be much bigger than The Witcher 3 and even Cyberpunk 2077. The developers shifted to Unreal Engine 5 as opposed to their proprietary REDengine. The gameplay is supposed to be flexible and allowing for a great degree of freedom.

What about the release date, though? No details on that and we can be sure that this might take a couple more years, so probably 2026 or beyond.
