The long awaited refreshed version of the game which launched a thousands memes is finally out in its full glory.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, a game which stayed in the memories of millions thanks to its… uniquely executed aesthetic, incredibly memorable delivery of many lines, the infamous horse armor, and a depth of NPC simulation way ahead of its time, got a full graphical remake thanks to the cooperation of Bethesda Game Studios and studio Virtuos.
It’s actually somewhere between remaster and remake. The graphics were overhauled in Unreal Engine 5, but the structure and core mechanics of the original rooted in the Creation Engine 2 are largely the same.
The official Oblivion Remastered launched ahead of the fan remake, Skyblivion, which uses TES5: Skyrim’s engine to recreate TES4. Fortunately, Bethesda is okay with the efforts of the modding team, so soon we might have not one, but two playable, remade Oblivions.
