Playing hot or not with Rymrgand, the decaying ox, coming this August to Deadfire.

Remember how Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire launched a moment ago and despite being miles better than the predecessor it got comparatively little media attention overall? Funny the world we live in, where classic RPGs are a given again. ANYWAY.

After several free updates, like a booze-inspired DLC, the time comes for Obsidian to give folks with Season Passes and Obsidian Editions to feel validated. The first paid DLC, Beast of Winter, is going to feature on a deity depicted as a decaying ox. I have no idea why this delightful fellow obsessed with entropy and cold wasn’t featured more heavily before.

The game is going to take us to a island where Rymrgand’s cultists found a safe, slightly chilly safe haven, and welcome the arrival of our protagonist eagerly, recognising our status as the prime carrier of death and chaos in the world. And that’s taking into account humongous god roaming the world and draining life from people.

On a more serious note, I’m never opposed to a story DLC, and it might be just the push I needed to get back to playing Deadfire after inexplicably dropping it midway.

Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire – Beast of Winter comes on August 2nd to PC. And since there’s also talk about a hefty update, we’ll be sure to let you know all about it.
