Some might have already lost hope that Star Citizen will come out during their lifetime, but we might just make it to the release of Squadron 42, a single-player spin-off of the game.
Cloud Imperium Games have revealed during this year’s Citizencon that they’re aiming for a tentative 2026 release of Squadron 42. Naturally, this is CIG we’re talking about, so further delays are possible.
The developers have also revealed more details about the game. The single-player campaign will take from 30 to 40 hours to complete, with dozens of missions available. The cast is really impressive, featuring such well-known actors as Henry Cavill, Gary Oldman, Mark Hamill, Gillian Anderson, Ben Mendelsohn, John Rhys-Davies, Andy Serkis, and more.
This, coupled with outstanding visuals and design, makes Squadron 42 feel really cinematic and grandiose. Just take a look at an hour-long gameplay video from the demo presentation at Citizencon 2024:
