Well, the ‘Empire’ subtitle was too original, it seems, as the latest reports suggest a change.
As WWG reports, the next Assassin’s Creed is set to launch this year with a full reveal coming during E3 2017. In line with the earlier rumors, the game is set in Egypt with a full open world gameplay.
What’s interesting is the change in the subtitle – it was reported that the game is developed as Assassin’s Creed: Empire, but will be be launched as Origins. If rumors are true, there will be two protagonists, a man and a woman. During the story we will not only travel through Egypt, but also visit Greece and other locations.
WWG sources shared information about naval combat making a return, with much less linear character progression – we expect something in line with Watch Dogs 2 and recent Ubisoft’s doings. It’s good to learn that the game has a much longer development cycle, being produced at least for “several years.”
There’s also a mention of a teaser that glimpses various places and historical eras, but it’s only an internal video and as for now it’s not confirmed if it will be presented to public.
