2017 will mark the 30th anniversary of the Final Fantasy series.
VGLeaks reports that there is a huge celebration planned by Square Enix for the upcoming 30th anniversary of Final Fantasy. Here’s a small summary of what is to come:
- The first episode of Final Fantasy VII Remake is expected to release next year – no PC version until mid-2018
- Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age will release on PS4 (based on the International version with tweaked fighting mechanics etc.)
- Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy is coming to PS4 as well. The report mentions three discs with Final Fantasy XIII, XIII-2 and Lightning Returns, all in glorious 60FPS/1080p
The key element of the celebration will be the Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Collection – a compilation of all nine main Final Fantasy titles with parts I-VI available both in NES/SNES and modern modes.
If VGLeaks’ sources are right, Final Fantasy II and III will receive an official English translation for the first time. There’s also a mention of a Collector’s Edition and a Season Pass in the report.
