The latest trend will not affect them.

Obsidian, the creators of such RPG staples as Fallout: New Vegas or Pillars of Eternity, are working on a new game in partnership with Take-Two Interactive and were very adamant about one thing:

“We wish we could tell you all about it right now… but we’re going to hold off until the time is right. What we did want to talk about was a question a lot of you have been raising: ‘Will this upcoming game feature any loot boxes or other microtransactions?’

“The answer is simply: “no.” No microtransactions, of any kind, in our game.”

The message was published as a response to fans becoming nervous about the partnership with the publisher and introducing microtransactions that were part of other games from their portfolio, like GTA Online or NBA 2K18.
