The newest console uses Friend Codes once again.
If you’ll recall early news about Nintendo Switch, there was a promise that Friend Codes (hated by many, loved by probably none) will be no more. It might come as a surprise, but with the latest update the console received a support… for Friend Codes exactly.
Modern consoles use Facebook linking and other methods to create your list of current and possible contacts. As the Nintendo Account allows for such a link, we all were expecting a more reasonable take on the Friends list. Unfortunately, you have to collect 12-digit codes to add your mates.
There’s also an option to add local players, but you have to sit quite closely (and probably use the same Wi-Fi) to find others. If Friend Codes are a temporary solution, there’s no news about a possible change.
