Minecraft is getting long in the tooth, and it shows in its graphics, which, while perfectly functional, lack pizzaz unless you try Bedrock’s RTX worlds or stack mods in Java. Soon, neither will be necessary.

The recent Minecraft LIVE unveiled a visual update coming Soon™ to the world blockiest survival, overhauling the graphics of MC to make it a bit more visually immersive. The Vibrant Visuals mostly seems to work with the lighting, from shadows to reflections and light sources.

The results shown during the event are impressive, reminiscent of the “RTX on/off” videos presenting the result of applying the ray-tracing tech to old games, but, presumably, without the intense resource requirements of RTX.

The Vibrant Visuals update is heading for Bedrock first, but it is very much planned for Java as well. The specific dates are unknown yet.
