If you hoped for Halo 6 releasing this year chances are slim.
Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox, was asked on Twitter about new, unannounced IPs. Here’s he’s answer:
XB1 games shipping this year are different for us. not Halo FPS/Gears led, new experiences with different IP, will be fun year
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) January 17, 2017
After the cancellation of Scalebound, Fable Legends and some other projects it’s good to hear that there are “different” games coming to Xbox One (and Windows 10, thanks to Xbox Play Anywhere initiative). Sea of Thieves, mentioned in other news in the last days, is a proper example.
“Not Halo FPS/Gears led” is an interesting phrase. As we know, Project Scorpio, Microsoft’s grand gaming platform, should release at the end of 2017. That means there might be no Halo 6 releasing this year… or this is a diversion and it has to wait for a proper reveal and not a Twitter reply contained in 140 characters.
