After some time spent in its cozy PlayStation 5 exclusivity, Final Fantasy XVI decided to walk the path of its predecessors and become available to PC players. There’s even a handy demo for all the interested, undecided, and worried!

With FF16’s release planned for September 17th, 2024 (shocking speed, really), it’s a good thing that there’s already a free demo available for download on both Steam and Epic Games Store.

  • On Steam you can access it from both the general Final Fantasy XVI product page, and a dedicated page for the demo alone
  • On EGS you need to find the dedicated product, but it is conveniently linked under the general FF16 page with all the other editions and options

Playing the demo is, in fact, a great way to figure out whether you’re likely to enjoy the game in the first place. It has a darker, more severe tone than many other FF titles, and goes all-in on the action-game playstyle the series has toyed with since Final Fantasy XV. Being able to check whether you can actually run the game is also useful, as its stunning graphics might be rather taxing for many machines.

So go on, try the Final Fantasy XVI demo out and see if its a world you would love to get immersed in!
