Although Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC was initially not as enthusiastically received by players as the base game version, the recent patch 1.12.3 release effectively fixes the most annoying bugs and, finally, balances the gameplay.

FromSoftware really took player feedback to heart by releasing Elden Ring Patch 1.12.3, tweaking the balance of specific attacks, weapons, and overpowered skills. Probably the most noticeable difference is the shorter animation time and lower damage of the Swift Slash skill in PvP. Also, the Carian Sorcery Sword now deals less damage, while Smithscript Cirque and Smithscript Dagger offer increased throwing attack range.

More good news concerns the location of some bosses. Patch notes include changing the Commander Gaius and the Golden Hippopotamus locations to the same positions as in the first fight. There are also many major bug fixes regarding NPCs, specific skills, and animations.

Last but not least, enabling the Rebuild Database option in safe mode on PS5 can now significantly improve unstable framerate. Plus, PC players are encouraged to disable Ray Tracing, often causing unstable performance, if such a situation takes place.

The recent update makes the DLC noticeably less challenging, as Shadow of the Erdtree has already proven extremely difficult. Hopefully, FromSoftware’s instantaneous changes will allure even more players eager to enjoy this brand-new chapter in the turbulent story of Lands Between!
