Baldur’s Gate 3’s been out of Early Access for just under two years, and before Larian Studion shifts attention fully to their future endeavors, they dropped Patch 8 as a final, and massive, content update. What’s going to be in it?
A ton, actually, and going through all of it for a quick news would be unreasonable, so let’s get through the juiciest bits instead.
- 12 more subclasses, one for each class (sorry, fans of Artificers, still not in the game)
- Barbarian: Path of Giant
- Bard: College of Glamour
- Cleric: Death domain
- Druid: Circle of the Stars
- Fighter: Arcane Archer
- Monk: Way of the Drunken Master
- Paladin: Oath of the Crown
- Ranger: Swarmkeeper
- Rogue: Swashbuckler
- Sorcerer: Shadow Magic
- Warlock: Hexblade
- Wizard: Bladesinging
- Photo Mode: no longer do you need to fiddle with the camera or install mods, now you can snap all the pics you want, with a ton of posing, post-processing, and editing options. It even works in cutscenes!
- Steam Trading Cards
- Crossplay and cross-progression for PC, Mac, Xbox, and PlayStation
- Update to BG3 Toolkit which includes limited level editing options
Larian even provided a new cartoon trailer to celebrate the occasion. Warning: it does contain some spoilers (and, arguably, slightly not safe for work imagery) if you haven’t seen BG3’s third act.
If you’d like to see the entire mighty roll of patch notes, they are available on the official Baldur’s Gate 3 website.
Whether you were waiting for a good opportunity to give BG3 a shot or a good excuse for one more playthrough, this final patch is exactly that.
