Mobs make the world of Minecraft a truly living place – let’s see what is the rarest mob in Minecraft!
Playing Minecraft, every player has encountered mobs, blocky animal-, human-, and monster-like creatures. While some wander around minding their business, others prefer a hostile approach to the player’s character.
As of today, the game is home to 87 different mobs, which often inspires players to find and collect them all (like Pokemon!), but some are so uncommon that rarely anyone even gets a chance to see them. Spotting the rarest mob in Minecraft can be easier once you know what they look like. Let’s find all the essential information about the top ten rarest mob variants!
1. Pink Sheep
This one of the rarest animals has a mere 0.164% chance of spawning naturally in the game world. You can only spot it when exploring new areas, so take a screenshot if you ever encounter it.
There’s also a baby pink sheep – a real cutie! – whose chance of spawning is 0.0082%. If your main goal in the game is to see or collect all the different types of creatures, you’d better practice your patience!
2. Blue Axolotl
To get a blue axolotl, prepare for a lot of work breeding these adorable creatures. Axolotls come in five colors: pink, brown, gold, cyan, and blue.
The last one is only obtainable through breeding other axolotl colors, but the chances are only 0.01%. What’s worse, axolotls can’t live without water for more than five minutes, so build a water farm to provide them with a decent and happy life.
3. Skeleton Horse
This undead, neutral horse variant naturally spawns from lightning generated during a thunderstorm. The chances of this happening are 0.75–1.5% on Easy, 1.5–4% on Normal, and 2.25–6.75% on Hard. Once you get within 10 blocks of it, a skeleton trap horse triggers, transforming the skeleton horse into a skeleton horseman – a skeleton riding a skeleton horse. Furthermore, the event spawns three more skeleton horsemen in the area.
Unfortunately, skeleton horses don’t breed, so it’s hard to encounter one in the game. If you want to see this mob on your Minecraft adventures, play hard to increase the chances of it appearing.
4. Charged Creeper
The Charged Creeper is a variant of the standard Creeper, dealing significantly more damage. This unique mob only spawns within 4 blocks of a lightning strike or when hit with a trident with a channeling enchantment during a thunderstorm.
It’s important to note the Charged Creeper uses damage of 6 (twice that of a regular Creeper), so encountering it is rather dangerous for the player character.
5. Brown Mooshroom
This neutral cow-like mob is found exclusively in the Mycelium biome, the rarest biome in the game. Once you locate it, you can try to find a Brown Mooshroom or its second variety, the Red Mooshroom. Adults are easily recognizable due to the one mushroom on their head and two on their back. You may have trouble identifying baby Mooshrooms, as they don’t have any mushrooms on their bodies.
But how do you find Brown Mooshrooms? Head to the Mycelium biome and find Red Mooshrooms. Wait for a storm – when the lightning hits the Red Mooshroom, it will transform into a Brown Mooshroom. Alternatively, use a trident with a channeling enchantment on the Red Mooshroom. Once done, you can take the Brown and Red Mooshrooms home to put them in an enclosure with red and brown mushrooms. Important – shearing a Mooshroom will transform it into a regular cow, so don’t do that if you don’t want to lose this extremely rare mob.
6. Sniffer
While it may not look special, the Sniffer is a helpful creature. Unfortunately, they are extinct, so you can’t witness them spawning naturally. You can, however, get yourself a Sniffer by searching warm ocean ruins with a brush. It’s not an easy task, but definitely worth the effort!
Searching the ocean ruins, you will soon come across a Sniffer egg. Take it home and place it on a wet, soft surface. It will take long for your Sniffer to hatch, so be patient. Once it hatches, the creature doesn’t do much except wander around. It may, however, come across an interesting smell. That’s when the Sniffer extracts ancient seeds of pitcher plants or torchflowers (which you can then plant on your farm). Use torchflowers to breed Sniffers and bring them back from extinction!
7. Snow Golem
This extremely rare mob spawns only when the situation meets three conditions. To find it, you need to locate a snow village, but one with pumpkins present.
And that’s still not all, as the third condition requires an Enderman to pick up a pumpkin and place it on two vertical snow blocks. A pumpkin can generate on its own on two snow blocks, but that’s an exceptionally rare occurrence. As you can see, creating a Snow Golem can be problematic!
8. Zoglin
Zoglins are created from Hoglins traveling through a portal from the Nether. That, however, rarely happens as they don’t like to be near the portal.
By placing a portal in the crimson forest, you can try to force a Hoglin to go through it and, therefore, turn into a Zoglin. Be careful, though, as Zoglins are aggressive and have high health.
9. Baby Brown Panda
Since pandas spawn exclusively in jungles, encountering them in the game world isn’t easy. The Brown Panda, an even rarer version of the standard Panda, has only a 2.04% chance of spawning naturally. Be especially careful when exploring the jungle in search of this rare creature, as they are masters of camouflage amidst the brown and green environment.
Once you spot this Panda type, you can try to tame it. To do that, feed it some bamboo and cake – it should trust you in no time. You can then transport these tamed pandas to your base to breed them and, thus, see the very rare baby Brown Panda!
10. Screaming Goat
This unique mob is available only through breeding multiple regular goats. Doing so, you have a 2% chance of producing a Screaming Goat. It’s no different from other goats in appearance but makes a distinctive screaming sound, so you should be able to spot it.
Once you have a Screaming Goat, you can breed it with a regular goat (giving a 50% chance of Screaming offspring) or another Screaming Goat (100% chance of Screaming offspring).
Conclusion
As you can see, finding rare creatures in Minecraft isn’t that hard if you know the way. Each one is worth the effort, as their presence proves how intriguing and vibrant this game world is!
