After years of waiting and wondering, the sequel for the historically faithful action RPG Kingdom Come Deliverance has arrived, and it comes with three editions (two of which are digital), which invites a question: which one is going to be better for you?
To provide an answer, let’s take a look at the differences between them. We’ll also talk about the pre-order bonus, if you decide to grab a copy for yourself before the February 4th, 2025 release. Whichever digital edition you choose, you’ll find plenty of attractive deals over on our marketplace, so your upcoming medieval adventure doesn’t need to strain your budget.
Let’s hop into checking what your options are!
Pre-order bonus
Everybody who secures their copy of the game before release will unlock a bonus quest, “The Lion’s Crest”, which will reward you with the Knight Brunswick armor and weapon set.
If you want a bit more storytime and cool-looking gear as a reward, you still have some time to pre-order any of the editions.
Standard Edition
The name doesn’t lie, it is as standard as it gets, no extra bells nor whistles, only the base game and that’s it, unless, of course, you pre-order to get the bonus.
Gold Edition
The gold edition is where it’s at, and by “it” we mean two extras you’re getting in addition to the base game:
- The Gallant Huntsman’s Kit giving you some fancy hunting clothing and gear for Henry;
- The Expansion Pass, which will give you access to the expansions when they are released after launch.
Collector’s Edition (physical only)
If you really want to go all in on KDC2, you could grab the Collector’s Edition from a local retailer dealing in physical items. Consult the official Kingdom Come Deliverance website to see which stores in your country will have it in stock.
This edition comes with several goodies such as a:
- 12 inch figure of Henry and Pebbles,
- Set of enamel pins,
- Cloth map of the city of Kuttenberg,
- Set of King’s Rebels cards,
- Physical reproduction of the Letter of Hope, known to be held by Sir Hans Capon.
All of that comes on top of the digital stuff from Gold Edition, of course.
Choices, choices
So, which edition is the right one for you?
Standard Edition | Gold Edition | Expansion Pass
Base Game | ➕ | ➕ | |
Gallant Huntsman’s Kit | ➕
3 Upcoming Expansions | ➕ | ➕
Shields of Seasons Passing | ➕ | ➕ |
If you’re already familiar with the license and are treating the Kingdom Come Deliverance sequel like it’s a return of a friend, you are likely to already know what you’re getting into, so the Gold Edition seems like a reasonable choice, you get a complete package in one swoop, and while you’re going to have to wait for the expansions to arrive, KDC2 is going to be reactive enough to make replaying it a few times something you will want to do anyway.
On the other hand, if you’re unsure of whether you’ll like the game, or even are completely fresh to KDC, you might want to play it safe and choose the standard edition. You’ll miss out on the Gallant Huntsman Kit, but the Expansion Pass and, most likely, individual DLCs will be easily available, so you’ll be able to get them when they are out.
