Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater — Story Overview

Just like the original, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is not a continuation but rather a prequel, set during an alternate version of the Cold War in the 1960s.

We step into the shoes of a young CIA operative who, for the sake of his mission, adopts the codename Naked Snake (fun fact — there are plenty of characters with "Snake" in their names throughout the MGS series, but here’s a spoiler: Naked Snake eventually becomes the iconic Big Boss).

The mission takes him deep into Soviet Union territory, specifically the dense jungles of Tselinoyarsk, where a nuclear engineering specialist named Sokolov is being held. Once a defector working for the United States, Sokolov is now being forced to develop a nuclear-armed weapon for the USSR.

Naked Snake must do everything in his power to rescue the scientist and prevent a global catastrophe. However, standing in his way are elite GRU soldiers and The Boss — a legendary female soldier known as the "Mother of Special Forces".

As always with the Metal Gear series, expect an emotional rollercoaster packed with conspiracy, tough moral choices, and the rich, intricate lore crafted by the brilliant mind of Hideo Kojima.

Gameplay and Mechanics in MGS Delta: Snake Eater

Just like the original, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a survival stealth action game at its core. Missions are designed to encourage silent infiltration, although you'll also have moments where direct confrontation is unavoidable. And yes — the cinematic cutscenes are as impactful as ever.

Visually, this remake is a massive leap forward. While the 2004 original pushed the PS2 to its limits with decent 3D graphics for its time, the remake fully harnesses the power of Unreal Engine 5. The result? Stunning, hyper-detailed, realistic visuals that truly bring the wild Soviet lands to life. Add in deep 3D audio, and the jungle atmosphere becomes almost tangible.

The game offers both a classic control style and a modern control style, catering to both longtime fans and newcomers. Key gameplay mechanics like the battle damage system, camera movement, and a range of environmental interactions have been upgraded to meet AAA standards — without sacrificing the series' original spirit.
