About Devil May Cry HD Collection

Devil May Cry is a series of hack and slash video games produced by Capcom, whose action is happening in the present. The story revolves around the main character, Dante, whose goal is to avenge the slain mother by exterminating demons. The franchise has achieved commercial success - several million copies of the first three were sold.

In the first Devil May Cry, the task of the player who impersonates Dante is to defeat Mundus - the ruler of the underground world. In the second part of the series, the hero must face the businessman Arius, who plans to take over the world by resurrecting one of the demons. In this part of the protagonist can also count on help from the warrior Lucia, who is the second playable character. The Devil May Cry 3 action was set before the events presented in the first installment of the cycle; it is there that the player has the opportunity to learn more details about Dante's past and his conflict with his brother - Vergil.

It should also be remembered that each of the first games in the series added new elements to the overall gameplay. DMC 1 introduced the rank and measurement of the fighting style. DMC 2 added the ability to create a combination of attacks in the air and immediately change weapons without looking into the inventory, while the third part allowed selecting the style of the game, giving players a chance to choose their favorite technique from four available: Royal Guard, Swordmaster, Gunslinger, and Trickster.

Gameplay

As it has already been mentioned before, Devil May Cry is a series of computer games of hack and slash type. In each of the three presented parts, the player takes on the role of Dante and must complete assigned missions, which mainly involve an exploration of diverse locations. In DMC 1 it is the Mallet Island, in DMC 2 the action takes place in the modern metropolis, while the area that the player travels in DMC 3 combines the best features of the location of both previous games.

Wherever the player does not go, there will always be lesser enemies, such as various types of demons, as well as powerful bosses. Clashes take place in real-time. Dante confronts opponents using various weapons, and after charging a special indicator, he can turn into a demon himself, thus gaining even more power. Additionally, aside from continuous battles, the fun is varied by simple and uncomplicated puzzles consisting primarily of searching for items.

During the game, the player's actions are all the time monitored by the scoring system, which gives him grades based on the items he used, the time of completing a particular stage, injuries and combat style. It is also worth mentioning that the struggles in DMC 3 are more attractive thanks to the possibility of selecting a style of fighting for individual preferences. The player can choose from such techniques as Swordmaster technique or for example Royal Guard.

DMC HD Collection is the first three original titles of the series, for the first time presented in one high-resolution package. The authors, wanting to renew the series, refreshed the graphic design of the games so that on PC each element of the described compilation can be run in 4K mode. Thanks to this remaster, players can enjoy an amazing series of Devil May Cry, operating in sixty frames per second (60 fps).

Reception

Each of the three parts of the series, which includes Devil May Cry HD Collection, was rated very positively by the reviewers. The first, DMC 1, is considered a classic by most players. In their opinion, this game started a great series and, despite many years, many people still want to play in it. It's timeless and thanks to the good fighting system, it still makes happy.

When it comes to DMC 2, players also saw many advantages. During the rating, they primarily pointed to the possibility of upgrading the weapon and the fact that there is a chance to play as Dante and Lucia. The third part of the series just like the previous ones, was rated very positively. In the reviews, players paid attention mainly to such elements as climate, interesting plot, six different styles of fighting, the introduction of six levels of difficulty, variety of weapons and an effective combat system.
