Best Games for Intel HD Graphics 620 & 520

Intel HD integrated graphics processors are an excellent solution for less well-off gamers. Using them, they can enjoy games without splurging on dedicated GPUs. There are plenty of members of the HD graphics family to choose from, but here we will focus on two  - models 520 and 620. We'll compare them to see what each of them has to offer and take a look at the best games available.

Comparing the features

Before we decide on which GPU to choose, it's best to learn more about what they offer. Intel HD Graphics 520 is integrated within the Intel company Skylake processor architecture. Thanks to its 24 Execution Units, Skylake clocks at up to 1050 MHz. The performance of the GPU is dependent on various factors, such as memory configuration and processor model. At its best, Skylake performs similarly to the GeForce 820M dedicated GPU, which should handle older games with relative ease on low settings.

Now for Skylake's older brother. Intel HD Graphics 620, codenamed Kaby Lake, offers similar performance features. The GPU  also clocks at 1050 MHz, and depending on external factors, provides an experience similar to that of GeForce 910M and 920M. Games such as World of Warcraft, Tomb Raider, and Counter-Strike: GO should run rather smoothly even on higher resolution settings.

Other features include the support of three independent monitors. Both GPUs are equipped with more efficient video decoders providing a better visual experience. Power consumption on both models is set at TDP of 15 W. Therefore, they are perfect for running on most laptops.

The prices of both models are dependent on the user's device of choice. Integrated Graphics processors are pre-installed on many laptops and plenty of them can be bought quite cheap.** Should the user choose to buy the Intel processor separately, it will cost them around 200-300 dollars depending on the marketplace. The latter is an excellent choice for those who want to build their own custom rigs.
